Arlington Million 2012
We're in the final stretch! The Arlington Million 2012 is just around the corner, and we are more than ready to celebrate the 30th running of this great Chicago horse race! This year is going to be more exciting than ever before, because not only will you have one of the top horse races of the year, but this is the first year of the American St. Lager race, an exclusive race party and all new happenings in Club Million.
As we said, this is the 30th running of the Arlington Million. 30 years of bright colors, sweaty horses and big hats - and let's face it, a lot of champagne, because what's a horse race without it? As always, the purse for this Chicago horse race is a whopping $1,000,000. Last year, Cape Blanco took home that purse and the title of the Arlington Million winner when he won by two and a half lengths. Who do you think will take home the grand prize this year?
Lots of new features are coming to the races this year. Here's everything you need to know about the Arlington Million 2012 to make sure you get the full race experience!
New To The Arlington Million - 2012
While this race is a legend in the Windy City, they're always adding new events and attractions to keep it exciting! Every year, the Arlington Million is this race track's biggest party of the year, but this year, you can expect it to be even bigger and so much better.
Million Party Zone: An exclusive party with Southern grub and lots of booze. The food and drink is all inclusive in the $65 admission fee, and you can enjoy all the North Carolina BBQ, Southern smoked meats and beer and wine that you please! A 5 hour open bar could mean nothing but trouble for some of you, but it also means that we can expect a fine array of dance moves while the live band, Prom Band, belts out a few tunes. Don't forget to take your complimentary beer mug home with you to remember this celebration always!
2012 VIP Treatment: They offer the VIP party in the International Room every year, but this year, the Playboy Mansion's DJ Summer Altice will be providing entertainment all day long. Tickets to this VIP party include a 4.5 hour open bar, hors d'oeuvres and a light buffet (we don't know what's on the menu, but probably something fancy that won't ruin your dress or get caught in your teeth) and admission to the after-party. While the races are on, guests can enjoy unobstructed views through the floor to ceiling windows of the International room or watch from the outdoor area. The VIP exclusives at the Arlington Million are only for those 21 and up!
American St. Leger: 2012 will mark the first year of the American St. Leger! Three huge stakes races (the Arlington Million, Secretariat Stakes and Beverly D) are obviously not enough for one day in the Arlington Million, so of course they had to up the tensions, and the chances to win more money, with a $400,000 race this Saturday! The American St. Leger is longer than the Belmont, coming in at a mile and 11/16 (why they chose that obscure distance, we can not even begin to guess).
If you can't be in Chicago to catch the Arlington Million this year, be sure to tune into WGN-TV starting at 5pm CT to see these ponies in action!
