Best part of my trip

Anytime you consider a tour, of any kind, you worry about the same few things. Am I overpaying? Will there be too much walking or will it be too short? Will it be entertaining? Or will it be boring and preachy? I know for myself, I was worried most about the amount of food. Would it be too much and make me sick during the walk? Would it not be enough for the price I paid? Would some of it not be appealing? You can trust me when I say that none of these things were an issue. First and foremost, it was the perfect amount of food. The stops are carefully spaced throughout the tour as to allow for adequate digestion, but never letting you grow hungry. And the food was unique but had a universal appeal as to not alienate anyones palette. Im literally still craving food from the tour, months ago. You quickly realize that the price of this tour is nothing in comparison to the amount and quality of the food you eat. And we not only got a tour of the food, but the city as well which kept an interesting tone throughout the whole trip with the perfect amount of walking for any stamina. Our guide was super friendly, effervescent, and knowledgable about all the right things. She was also eager to answer any of our questions. I've never been more impressed with a tour, in any city. My only recommendation is that you take the tour as soon as possible, within the first day or two of your trip for those who are visiting. It's better to get to know the city and food in the beginning so you can avoid the familiar guessing games and trial-and-error of finding places to eat and visit in a new city. Even if you're coming to Chicago to stay with relatives, the tour is a great idea because I promise you, they don't know the food scene as well as Chicago Food Planet. Which is why this tour is also great even for Chicago natives and residents. Sometimes a fresh perspective is all you need to fall in love with your own city all over again.

Outstanding!!!

The food was fantastic, not to mention filling! The tour had a great pace - walk a little, learn something new, eat something out of this world, have fun, repeat. Tour guide really new her stuff about the city and we learned a lot about city history and the many great things to do in the area. I've done a few Food Tours across the country and this one so far is the best!

Loves it

Oh mama, this tour is fantastic! I've been on food tours in a few other cities, but none of them even compare to the great time we had on our Chicago Food Planet tour. We had so much delicious food (we were totally stuffed, but I wouldn't have forgone a single bite!) and we learned a load of great information about the Chicago neighborhoods. For a city that prides itself on the diversity of its neighborhoods, this is a wonderful way to show off what each area has to offer and to learn about the history and forces that have made Chicago what it is today: a super fun city with some super tasty food. Take this tour - you'll be so glad you did!

"I now feel like a local in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area."

Had a great time learning about the Bucktown/Wicker Park area. I just moved here with my wife and we did the tour and learned so much about the history of the area and Chicago. AND we ate amazing food!!! The guide was super fun, knowledgable, and engaging. She made everyone feel like they were involved and part of the tour, not just listening and eating. Now when talk to people in the area we feel like we know more of the city and the great food. All of my friends from back home want to come visit and this food tour is on the must do list. I can't wait to do the other Chicago Food Planet tours.

Fun to be a tourist in my own city!

I have lived in Chicago my entire life, so I was expecting the Near North Food Tour to be more entertaining than educational. It was both! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and upbeat, and the food we sampled was delicious. I loved learning about spices and olive oil, and finding some new places to shop for holiday gifts! This is a great way to sample some of Chicago's best foods, and to enjoy a leisurely walk through Chicago's most beautiful neighborhoods. I highly recommend this tour for visitors and Chicagoans alike!

Best Chinatown Experience Ever!

Our trip to Chicago's Chinatown would not have been the same without Chicago Food Planet. The tour was extremely educational, the staff was professional and very entertaining, and the food was very tasty and plentiful! The price of this tour is a very good value. My family and I plan to take another one of the tours offered by CFP on our next free day. What a treat!

Food tour not just about food... Had a great time!

I went on the Bucktown/Wicker Park tour a couple weeks ago with some friends from out of town and we had a great time! I'm a native Chicagoan and lived in Wicker Park for some time so I wondered how much I would learn about the city and the neighborhood. I was really suprised by the amount of history I learned!

The tour guide was a pro and the tour itself was well organized. He made the group laugh and had a lot of personality.

On the tour, we stopped into more than a handful of local eateries and were fed decent portion sizes. By the end of the tour, we were all stuffed. If you're a proud Chicagoan like myself, I promise that you will have a great time and learn a lot about your own backyard.

Great job Chicago Food Planet!
