Midway Airport is considered the busiest square mile in the country. It has been a port for air traffic since 1923 and has recently undergone extensive renovation and expansion. It is located 10 miles from downtown Chicago and is considered the premier point-to-point airport in the nation and an economic engine for the region, generating close to $7 billion in economic activity each year and 90,000 jobs. It is the south side alternative to Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Retail options include some familiar national specialty stores as well as some Chicago favorites. Midway's Concessions Triangle offers a unique selection of ethnic cuisine representing Chicago's rich cultural diversity. There are many choices, from Chicago hotdogs to Harry Caray's fine dining -- from Chicago pizza to ethnic specialty restaurants.
