Peggy Notebaert Museum - Good for kids, but opt for the Zoo

The Peggy Notebaert Museum in Chicago is a good idea if you're traveling with the little ones, but I'm not sure it's better than the free options nearby, which is why I can't recommend it.

This is a pretty state-of-the-art museum, and they have some great observatories throughout the museum to bird watch with the help of experts. However, the nature board walk is right outside and essentially gives you the real deal for free, and if you keep walking down the road, the Lincoln Park Zoo (also free) is an even better option that kids and families like will have more fun at.

That being said, I imagine this museum is a great option if you're visiting Chicago in the Winter and the outdoor attractions aren't as accessible. Plus, it's definitely educational and really affordable. It just wasn't for me. (And I, admittedly, am NOT their target audience, so take my opinion for what it's worth.)
