What the hell is Baconfest?
Baconfest is in it's fourth year, and basically brings together all the pork-eating, Chicago loving folks with an appetite. Last year at Baconfest, they went through a ton (not just the metaphorical, exaggerated "that was a TON!") but literally a ton of Neuske's bacon. The event took place in two sessions in 2012, lunch and dinner. Of course, there's the chance to get in as a VIP an hour before the general admission crowd comes in to steal all your meat.
Each session features over 60 restaurants/chefs who come to share their bacon concoctions with the world (or whoever was lucky enough to snag a ticket). Many of the chefs are pretty famous in these parts, and the bacon is provided by local entrepreneurs and national brands to give you a great selection of quality meats.
We know this is making your mouth water already, but all these salty treats are going to make you thirsty while your here, and what goes better with bacon than booze? They've got a few great beverage partners lined up:
- Templeton Rye Whiskey
- The Fifty/50
- Bakon Vodka (yep, we all need some bacon-y cocktails!)
- Candid Wines
- Goose Island
- Old Style
- Greenbush Brewing
- Lagunitas Brewing
- Labatt Blue
What about the meat?
Don't worry. Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats is the official sponsor of Baconfest and they do not disappoint. Last year, Baconfest was graced with 4,257 pounds of bacon. This year, get ready for even more!
How much are we talkin' here?
Tickets cost $100 for general admission and $200 if you're coming for the VIP treatment.
