Tour of The Chicago TheatreTime: 12:00pm The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years. Saturday tours occur on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am and 12pm. Tours will begin promptly on the hour. When possible, Saturday tours will feature a demonstration on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. The running time for all Saturday tours is approximately 1 hour. Reservations do not need to be made in advance unless your party contains more than 10 people. Other tour dates are scheduled seasonally. See the web site. |

Polar Adventure DaysLocation: Northerly Island-1400 S. Lynn White Dr., on the Museum Campus Polar Adventure Days offer families the opportunity to explore Northerly Island and come face-to-face with live animals, engage in winter activities, watch ice sculpture carvings, create winter-themed art, learn the science behind snow formations and enjoy music from the Old Town School of Folk Music. With enough snow, participants can snowshoe and cross country ski around the Island. Participants can also go inside for free hot chocolate (while supplies last for the first 500 guests.) |

You can see 15 teams of professional sculptors creating their masterpieces at Gateway Park located just west of the entrance to Navy Pier. The teams of professional artists have been selected based on their pencil sketch drawings that they submitted. This year, in addition to teams from Chicago and our neighboring states, teams will head to Chicago from Canada, Mexico, Bulgaria, China and Russia. A dozen teams from Chicago's Public High Schools will also be at Gateway Park. Other entertainment includes Dog Sled Racing Demonstrations and Weight Pulling by Green Valley Dog Drivers; a Snowboard Rail Jam Competition and family entertainment at the Family Pavilion inside Navy Pier.
