Polar Adventure Days

Location: Northerly Island 1400 S. Lynn White Dr., on the Museum Campus

FIFTH ANNUAL POLAR ADVENTURE DAYS OFFER Families THREE DAYS OF WINTER FUN At NORTHERLY ISLAND

The Chicago Park District presents the fifth annual Polar Adventure Days from 12-4 p.m. on three Saturdays, Dec. 12, Jan. 23 and Feb. 20, at Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn White Dr., on the Museum Campus. The program is admission free.

Polar Adventure Days offer families the opportunity to explore Northerly Island and come face-to-face with live animals, engage in winter activities, watch ice sculpture carvings, and create nature-inspired crafts.


Tour of The Chicago Theatre

Time: 12:00pm

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years.

Saturday tours occur on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am and 12pm. Tours will begin promptly on the hour. When possible, Saturday tours will feature a demonstration on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

The running time for all Saturday tours is approximately 1 hour. Reservations do not need to be made in advance unless your party contains more than 10 people.
$5 per person, no reservations necessary

Auditorium Theatre Tour

Location: 50 E. Congress Parkway, Chicago

Tour the magnificent Auditorium Theatre and marvel at the art and architecture of Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan.

Tours are available Mondays at 10:30am and 12 noon and Thursdays at 10:30 am. Tour tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased beginning 30 minutes prior to the tour at the Auditorium Theatre Box Office and in advance at Ticketmaster.

Additional times for group tours (20+) are available by appointment. To schedule a group tour of the Auditorium Theatre, please call (312) 431-2389 ext 0.

The Chicago Theatre Marquee Tour

Location: Chicago Theatre 175 N. State St.

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years, have left their autographs on the walls of dressing rooms and corridors.

Guides will share with you the stories of the visionaries who opened The Chicago Theatre, whose influence on popular entertainment in Chicago is still recognized today. Tours also include the photo exhibit in The Chicago Theatre's lower lobby, "Chicago: Three Centuries of Theatres."

Chicago Maritime Festival

Location: Chicago History Museum Clark St & North Ave.

The Chicago Maritime Festival is an annual event held at the Chicago History Museum that presents the most diverse maritime program ever staged in the Great Lakes and an outreach program to over 5,000 students, seniors and adults with disabilities. Daytime activities include maritime history, lighthouses, shipwrecks, model boats for kids, life raft demonstrations, marine art, songs for younger sailors, knot tying and more, presented by working mariners, authors, divers, educators, explorers, artists and nautical notables from around the world. The evening concert features some of the finest maritime singers from both sides of the Atlantic.
