Shoreline Sightseeing Fireworks Cruises

Enjoy a spectacular Chicago fireworks display aboard a Chicago Fireworks Cruise. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Navy Pier presents a Chicago fireworks extravaganza every Wednesday and Saturday. Boats docked at Navy Pier offer a number of great opportunities to see Chicago fireworks from Lake Michigan with a variety of special Chicago Fireworks Cruises.

101st Chicago Race to Mackinac Parade of Boats

Location: East end of the second tier of Navy Pier

Take in the magnificent sight of over 350 sailboats as they begin the world’s longest freshwater race, the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac presented by Lands’ End Business Outfitters. The Mac will be held this Saturday, July 18, 2009.

Everyone is invited to join in the excitement of the 101st running of the race free of charge. The festivities start Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. and go until 2:00 p.m. at the east end of the second tier of Navy Pier, where the magnificent and colorful Parade of Boats can be viewed. A sportscaster will be announcing all the boat and crew information.

41st Annual Sheffield Garden Walk

Location: Webster and Sheffield (2200 N & 1000 W)

Check out the 41st Annual Sheffield Garden Walk & Festival, sponsored by the Sheffield Neighborhood Association (SNA), a non-profit community organization. The "Summer's Best Festival" features self-guided tours of more than 100 Gardens, a Garden Center, guided Architectural Tours, live entertainment by some of Chicago's and North America's finest bands, food and drink, and activities for children at the Kids Corner.

Mayor's Cup Youth Soccer Tournament

Location: Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park

Families and friends are invited to participate in the 16th Annual Mayor’s Cup Youth Soccer Tournament (advance registration required for team participation). One of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the United States. This FREE tournament takes place in Lincoln Park at Montrose Harbor beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with an awards presentation at 6:30 p.m. Matches take place on 36 playing fields featuring a five-on five format with more than 300 teams.

Tour of The Chicago Theatre

Time: 12:00pm

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years.

Saturday tours occur on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am and 12pm. Tours will begin promptly on the hour. When possible, Saturday tours will feature a demonstration on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

The running time for all Saturday tours is approximately 1 hour. Reservations do not need to be made in advance unless your party contains more than 10 people.
$5 per person, no reservations necessary
