Cool Jazz Thursdays

With the expansion of the entertainment and environment in the South Loop area, M/X Patio, an outdoor patio at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 2233 S. Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago, Illinois, has launched a great entertainment event this summer with the inauguration of Cool Jazz Thursdays. Every Thursday evening this Summer, beginning June 11, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., M/X Patio will be filled with the music of featured Jazz musicians from Columbia College. Additionally, the event will include a cigar bar and featured menu items from Shor.

Jazzin' at the Shedd Aquarium

Location: 1200 South Lake Shore Drive on Chicago’s Museum Campus.

Shedd Aquarium becomes Chicago’s premier jazz venue again with another season of Jazzin’ at the Shedd. This Chicago tradition combines some of the area’s best bands, the city’s breathtaking skyline and an unrivaled array of aquatic animals from around the world. Add light refreshments and drinks, and you’ve got an unbeatable summer evening of fun.

Jazzin’ happens every Thursday evening from June 4 through Aug. 27. Bands play on Shedd’s north terrace and inside at the Caribbean Reef. 101st Chicago Race to Mackinac Parade of Boats

Location: East end of the second tier of Navy Pier

Take in the magnificent sight of over 350 sailboats as they begin the world’s longest freshwater race, the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac presented by Lands’ End Business Outfitters. The Mac will be held this Saturday, July 18, 2009.

Everyone is invited to join in the excitement of the 101st running of the race free of charge. The festivities start Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. and go until 2:00 p.m. at the east end of the second tier of Navy Pier, where the magnificent and colorful Parade of Boats can be viewed. The 51st Dearborn Garden Walk

The North Dearborn Association, a Chicago non-profit neighborhood organization, will sponsor its 51st Dearborn Garden Walk. The event runs from 12pm-5pm and begins at 1300 N. Dearborn Parkway.

During the walk, guests are treated to dramatic garden vignettes created by a variety of designers and businesses. Over 20 private rear gardens are featured and range from minimalistic to classic small gardens and patio/terrace designs, each showcasing the most creative use of outdoor space in an urban setting.
