32nd Annual Chicago Jazz Festival

Location: Grant Park

The longest running of the city's lakefront music festivals. For the past 30 year's, the Chicago Jazz Festival has been a Labor Day weekend tradition.

The Chicago Theatre Marquee Tour

Location: Chicago Theatre 175 N. State St.

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years, have left their autographs on the walls of dressing rooms and corridors.

Guides will share with you the stories of the visionaries who opened The Chicago Theatre, whose influence on popular entertainment in Chicago is still recognized today. Tours also include the photo exhibit in The Chicago Theatre's lower lobby, "Chicago: Three Centuries of Theatres."

Chicago Farmers Markets

Location: Downtown Chicago & Other Locations

Chicago's Farmers Markets bring more than 70 vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers to over 20 neighborhoods throughout the City of Chicago. Markets are held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday around the city.

Fireworks Dinner Cruises

Location: Navy Pier

Enjoy a spectacular Chicago fireworks display aboard a Chicago Fireworks Cruise. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Navy Pier presents a Chicago fireworks extravaganza every Wednesday and Saturday. Boats docked at Navy Pier offer a number of great opportunities to see Chicago fireworks from Lake Michigan with a variety of special Chicago Fireworks Cruises.


Joyous Outdoor Event

Location: Lincoln Park’s South Belmont Harbor at Belmont Avenue & Lake Shore Drive

Redmoon and the Chicago Park District celebrate the 5th year of spectacles in the parks with the Joyous Outdoor Event (J.O.E). Labor Day weekend, Thursday – Monday, Sept. 2-6, in Lincoln Park’s South Belmont Harbor at Belmont Avenue and Lake Shore Drive. Festival J.O.E. is Redmoon’s first-ever festival featuring family entertainment, an international public art installation, small scale and guerilla performances and live music acts. The celebration culminates in a Redmoon spectacle production at each performance.

Shoreline Lake & Architecture Fireworks Cruises

Location: Navy Pier-Chicago

Shoreline Sightseeing Lake Fireworks Cruise
Enjoy a dramatic nighttime Lake Michigan Tour followed by a spectacular Navy Pier Fireworks display! Boats depart 8:45 pm.

Shoreline Sightseeing Architecture/Fireworks Cruise Enjoy a dramatic nighttime Chicago River Architecture Cruise led by an experienced, entertaining Shoreline docent and viewing more than 40 landmarks. Then watch a spectacular Navy Pier Fireworks display from Shoreline’s Ogden Pier dock. Boats depart 8:30 pm.
