Take a tour of Italy and experience La Dolce Vita without event leaving the country at the fourth annual Italian Expo during the weekend of September 17-19 at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall A.

Food, wine, fashion, design, tourism, art and entertainment are showcased as the cultures of Italy and Chicago collide at Italian Expo, featuring: a fashion competition between emerging designers, a culinary arts demonstration and competition among 16 of Chicago’s top Italian chefs, and an art competition with various artists of the Chicago Arts District. Each competition will allow the public to participate in and vote on their favorites for an ultimate interactive experience.

Over 100 companies and vendors from Italy and the U.S. will be present displaying and selling their products from Italy for three days only. We welcome all to enjoy this event by tasting delicious Italian food and wine, viewing fashion runway shows of Italian apparel and fine jewelry, and discovering luxury cars & motorbikes, travel and tourism information on all Regions of Italy.

22nd Annual Viva! Chicago Latin Music Festival

Location: Millennium Park

This vibrant Latin music festival showcases local, national and international talent in the various Latin music genres that include salsa, reggaeton, mariachi, norteña, Spanish pop y más. Many artists are Grammy award winners and nominees.

OakToberfest

Location: Downtown Oak Park

Downtown Oak Park embraces the summer season turning to fall at OakToberfest. The 19th annual fall festival will be held September 17 and 18, and will take place on Marion St. and North Blvd. This free two-day event will offer seasonal food from local restaurants, specialty micro-brews, great wines, music and a children’s area featuring a root beer garden.

Local restaurants will vend their special fall recipes for this event. Available fall cuisine includes, ribs, smoked corn on the cob, brats, pulled pork, and more. Vendors will be selling food along North Blvd. throughout the event.

Hand-crafted microbrews such as Samual Adams Octoberfest, Fat Tire, Harvest Moon, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Leinenkugel’s Oktoberfest will be offered for event goers to enjoy. Those over the age of 21 will receive a wrist band, and will be able to purchase a souvenir mug. Premium wines from Trader Joe’s will also be featured.

Six bands will be performing both Friday and Saturday evening covering many different styles of music from Blues to Cajun music. Friday’s line up consists of the Rick Simcox and the Tone Questers performing from 5 to 6 p.m., Reyna Larson performing from 6 to 7:45 p.m. and Paul Cebar performing from 8 to 10 p.m. Live music continues Saturday night starting with Localvores performing from 2 to 3:45 p.m., Chevere de Chicago from 4 to 5:45pm, Way Side Winders from 6-7:45 and CJ Chenier and Red Hot Lousiana Band from 8 to 10pm.

A children’s area will be located on Marion St. on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The area will feature fun family events such as zucchini races, where children will be able to create and race their own zucchini cars, karaoke and Wonder Works Children’s Museum as well as the other great activities. There will also be a root beer garden sponsored by Trader Joe’s offering old fashion root beer and other old time favorites.
