The Chicago Theatre Marquee Tour

Location: Chicago Theatre 175 N. State St.

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years, have left their autographs on the walls of dressing rooms and corridors.

Guides will share with you the stories of the visionaries who opened The Chicago Theatre, whose influence on popular entertainment in Chicago is still recognized today. Tours also include the photo exhibit in The Chicago Theatre's lower lobby, "Chicago: Three Centuries of Theatres."

Shoreline Fall Fireworks Cruises

Shoreline Sightseeing continues their popular Fireworks Cruises on Saturday nights from September 18 to October 31 to see the Navy Pier Fireworks featuring special Fall and Halloween themes.

Shoreline's Chicago River Combination Architecture and Fireworks Cruises depart Ogden Slip at Navy Pier at 8:00 p.m. The 75-minute tour includes a dramatic nighttime Architecture tour led by an experienced, entertaining Shoreline docent, followed by fireworks viewing from Shoreline’s Ogden Slip dock.


World Sport Chicago Family Sports Festival

Location: Midway Plaisance Park, 1130 Midway Plaisance North

Join Olympians, Paralympians, and your favorite Chicago professional sports teams for a free day of fun and fitness! Try more than 20 different sports ranging from basketball and soccer to archery and rugby. Meet players and alumni from the Chicago Bears, Bulls, Cubs, Fire, Red Stars, Sky, and White Sox. Learn about programs and places to get involved with sports in Chicago. With entertainment, music and more the Family Sports Festival is a celebration of sports and health.

Chicago Farmers Markets

Location: Downtown Chicago & Other Locations

Chicago's Farmers Markets bring more than 70 vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers to over 20 neighborhoods throughout the City of Chicago. Markets are held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday around the city.

10th Annual Garfield Park Conservatory County Fair

Location: Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave

Experience the excitement of a county fair in the middle of the city, Chicago’s original urban hoedown at the 10th Annual County Fair on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave. Admission is $5. Ages 3 and under are free.

Garfield Park Conservatory’s County Fair is an annual event celebrating both the annual harvest and healthy communities in an urban setting on Chicago’s west side. The event will illustrate for visitors traditional harvest practices and new possibilities in urban agriculture.

Food, wine, fashion, design, tourism, art and entertainment are showcased as the cultures of Italy and Chicago collide at Italian Expo, featuring: a fashion competition between emerging designers, a culinary arts demonstration and competition among 16 of Chicago’s top Italian chefs, and an art competition with various artists of the Chicago Arts District. Each competition will allow the public to participate in and vote on their favorites for an ultimate interactive experience.

Over 100 companies and vendors from Italy and the U.S. will be present displaying and selling their products from Italy for three days only.
