Midwest Film Festival

Magnificent Mile Lights Festival & Parade

The 19th Annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival® presented by Harris will mark the official start of the 2010 Holiday Season with a weekend filled with free holiday activities. Tour of The Chicago Theatre

Location: 12:00pm

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years.

Saturday tours occur on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 11am and 12pm. Tours will begin promptly on the hour. When possible, Saturday tours will feature a demonstration on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ.

The running time for all Saturday tours is approximately 1 hour. Reservations do not need to be made in advance unless your party contains more than 10 people.
$5 per person, no reservations necessary

The City of Chicago and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) are proud to present the official start of the holiday season the 97th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Wednesday, November 24, 2010! The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a highly-anticipated event drawing people of all ages to the heart of Chicago’s downtown Loop. Musical performances and festive holiday music begin at 4:30 pm and the holiday season officially commences at 5:00 pm, when the switch is flipped and the lights begin to dazzle in Daley Plaza.

19th Annual Wreathing of the Lions

The Chicago Theatre Marquee Tour

Location: Chicago Theatre 175 N. State St.

The tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby areas, majestic auditorium and backstage space (when possible) where performers through the years, have left their autographs on the walls of dressing rooms and corridors.

Guides will share with you the stories of the visionaries who opened The Chicago Theatre, whose influence on popular entertainment in Chicago is still recognized today. Tours also include the photo exhibit in The Chicago Theatre's lower lobby, "Chicago: Three Centuries of Theatres."
