Chicago Theatre - Check it out, even just to see the sign

The Chicago Theatre sign is a Windy City landmark in its own regard; fans of the movie Chicago will recognize the famous facade from the film, along with just about everyone else who is remotely familiar with the city.

The Chicago Theatre regularly hosts top musicians, famous comedians and even a stage show here and there in an intimate, acoustic-friendly setting. However, tickets are a little pricey for their events, and they aren't nightly. (There wasn't anything going on the two times I visited the Chicago Theatre.)

I was able to take a peek into the lobby which was, well, a lobby, but the real gem of the Chicago Theatre is the iconic sign outside. It's so tall, bright and recognizable that I started using it as a way to keep track of where exactly in the city I happened to be. The Chicago Theatre is located on the North Side of Chicago, essentially just across the street from the Chicago River and at the beginning of State Street shopping. I'd like to thank the designers of the Chicago Theatre for keeping me from being completely lost while touring Downtown Chicago.

To sum it up, even if you have no intention of seeing a show at the Chicago Theatre, no photo album of the Windy City is complete without a shot of this famous theatre. Definitely take a walk by the Chicago Theatre, and use it as a starting point for your sightseeing - seriously, it's located smack in the center of some of the best tourist attractions in the city.
