Chicago Marriott Downtown - Surprisingly Trendy
This place is way better then any other typical Marriott hotel I’ve been to before! When I walked in, I was shocked it was a Marriott. It’s super trendy with a great bar in the lobby. When I was there, the bar in the lobby was actually really lively and happening, which I thought really added to the experience. It almost reminds me a little bit of the style of a Vegas hotel. The crowd seemed to mostly be convention type people, but from what I saw, they sure do like to drink and have fun...
The location is perfect! It’s right on the Magnificent Mile, so there is a ton of shopping and restaurants within a couple blocks. You can pretty much walk anywhere from here, which I love because I love walking around Downtown Chicago, but if that’s not your thing there are cabs all over the area and it’s right by a train stop (red line).
Request a room with a view. The room I was in had a really cool view of the city and all the great architecture in Chicago!
The only downside is that it’s a little on the expensive side (somewhere around $180 a night), but so is everything in Chicago. You do really get what you pay for here. My Dad has been staying here for years when he comes in to town, and he loves it. They have a pretty good amount of return customers. I really do recommend this place. It’s a lot better then those uppity hotels in Chicago and less expensive!
