Chicago is renowned for having some of the best nightlife in the country, and the Chicago Headquarters Beercade has quickly established itself as the go-to destination in Lakeview for a Windy City night out that combines creative and affordable drinks with fantastically fun free arcade games.
This one-of-a-kind Chicago attraction is a retro arcade/dive bar hybrid, that is a magnet for young people looking for something affordable, unique and fun to do in the area. One of the biggest draws of Chicago Headquarters Beercade is obviously its vast selection of arcade games, which merge the old and new by offering vintage games and more current ones. Patrons love competing against their friends on any of a number of the entertaining games offered here, and leave feeling a bit nostalgic for their childhood days spent perfecting their hand at Nickel City and Dave N Busters. NBA jam, Double Dragon, Excitebike, Street Fighter and more are just waiting to be played at Chicago Headquarter Beercade.
Tasty and cheap drinks are another specialty of Chicago Headquarters Beercade, and creative concoctions such as Bear Hug, made with Cherry Chocolate Stout and Bridgeport, and Dragon’s Milk, a combination of Milk Stout and New Holland, populate their draft menu.
Visitors who would prefer sipping on a cocktail can get satisfy their sweet tooth and get a nice buzz going with drinks like Cereal Killer, which is comprised of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, old overholt rye whiskey and walnut bitters, and Who’s Got the Mott’s, which is made with Stoli Gala Apple Vodka, fresh lemon, Mott’s apple sauce & apple bitters. Their hard Arcade Lemonade drink is another popular choice as well.
What's New At Headquarters?
Fans of the original Chicago Headquarters Beercade will be delighted to hear that plans for an expansion are in the works. By growing their business with the additional open space next door at 950 West Wolfam in Lakeside, the owners have set their sights on becoming the largest pinball arcade in the Midwest, from 2,000 square feet to 8,000 square feet! This new and improved version of the fun Chicago destination is set to open in late May, 2013. Twenty to twenty-five pinball games will join the popular arcade games already in operation, and will include both retro and current versions of pinball. By taking over the space from Uncle Fatty’s, the Lakeview arcade will gain 7,000 square feet and two lanes of machines.
The same excellent drink menu and cheap prices that Headquarters Beercade has gained notoriety over will be offered in the pinball area. Visitors can also expect the rockabilly, indie-electro, rock and late-night DJ music sets to add to the atmosphere of this new and updated version of everyone’s favorite alcohol-friendly arcade. Brian Galati and Mark Kwiatkowski, co-owners of Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort have partnered up with Chireal Jordan for the expansion. “We wanted to expand upon the success of Headquarters Beercade and offer another unique outlet for nightlife and entertainment in Chicago,” says Jordan. “The pinball space will represent our second project together as Capacity Bar Group and serve as the predecessor to two more venues opening later this year.”
