Hyatt Regency - Classic Hyatt style
The Hyatt Regency is typical of most Hyatt hotels - clean, minimalist and classy. However, I'll admit that this one had a bit more "pizazz" than I was anticipating, notably the above-average bar area that looked more like a chic Chicago lounge than your usual hotel bar. Also, while I didn't go to DaddyO's Pub and Piano Bar next door, from everything I've heard it sounds like my kind of place.
I mentioned in my review of the Sheraton Hotel and Towers that the Sheraton was one of just two CIA-approved hotels in Chicago; the Hyatt Regency is the other. So, you never know who may end up staying in this Chicago hotel - just remember that you'll face heightened security in and around the hotel if someone especially important is in town.
As for location, the Hyatt Regency Chicago is right on the Chicago River, and the Chicago Theatre, State St. shopping and Millennium Park are all a short walk south.
Overall, an above-average hotel REALLY close to all of the tourist-friendly attractions in Chicago. I would definitely recommend the Hyatt Chicago.
