Summary

Features: From the imagination of Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman, this family friendly show in Chicago is the newest adaptation of a timeless favorite. The Jungle Book is a story that many of us know and love, and it's playing for a limited time in Chicago at the Goodman Theatre! Bring your family for a night of great music, a timeless story and relive a favorite childhood tale!

This adaptation of the show is based on Rudyard Kipling’s children’s tales and mixed with favorites from the classic Disney film, like a score with some of the most popular songs in musical history. The play also features original Indian-inspired music and dance. This Chicago show premiere is a must-see!

That's right, premier! This is the the world premiere stage version of “The Jungle Book,” adapted and directed by Mary Zimmerman (creator of the Tony Award-winning “Metamorphoses”). Doug Peck, the music director, has assembled a remarkable orchestra of 12 that includes both Eastern and Western musicians. He will showcase some of Jungle Book Disney favorite songs, but has been given permission to adapt and orchestrate the Sherman brothers numbers such as “I Wanna Be Like You,” “Trust in Me” and “Colonel Hathi’s March,” plus “Baloo’s Blues,” which was not used in the movie) and Terry Gilkyson’s “Bare Necessities” for a unique twist on the songs we know and love. Peck even gives us a few new lyrics, and a unique blend of jazz and Indian music.
