JW Marriott - HUGE lobby, cool bar and great service
I was really impressed with the JW Marriott Downtown, as it was one of the most memorably hotels I visited in Chicago.
The lobby at the JW Marriott in Chicago is absolutely sprawling. It’s very open, with tons of cool-looking plush red couches and modern-style chandeliers. Their red and white tones are a trademark, and there’s a long bar in the back with a number of flat-screens if you’re looking for a midday break.
Probably the nicest touch of this luxury hotel lobby was that the JW Marriott has servers in the lobby that are happy to take your order for a drink, whether you’re staying at the hotel or not. The one server that approached me was incredibly nice, and completely cool with the fact that I was just relaxing. I imagine the rest of the staff follows a similar accord.
I wandered around this hotel and was impressed by basically everything I came across. There’s a grand staircase to a ballroom upstairs and restrooms available in the lobby. However, the best feature had to be the bar in the back of the lobby, which was far more accessible and a lot less dark than most hotel bars I came across.
Overall, the JW Marriott was one of my favorite hotels Downtown, and I would highly recommend checking out their rates to see if this hotel fits your budget.
