Navy Pier Ferris Wheel - Something you have to do once
Ok, so I’ve been on the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel once... I feel like it’s just one of those things that you need to do at least once. Don’t know if I’d ever do it again, but it was cool. Plus, it was only $6, which I didn’t think was a bad price at all.
It sits out on the east side of the city, so when you’re on it, you literally see the entire city skyline. It has an extraordinary view, which is really why everyone goes on it. It’s kind of an interesting landmark because of how old it is. It was built back 70 years ago for the worlds fair. It goes a lot faster then it looks too, so don’t worry about the line. It will go faster then you think. I’m not a big fan of heights, so when it was over I was definitely ready to get off. But my friends didn’t seem to think it went that high, so don’t listen to me. It think it goes about 15 stories up. I went during the day, which was cool, but I think it would be way better at night with all the city lights on.

Navy Pier Ferris Wheel - $6? I'll pass ...
OK - so if I wasn't traveling alone, and if it wasn't 12pm on a Tuesday, and it wasn't November in Chicago, I probably would have been far more likely to take a spin on the famous Navy Pier Ferris Wheel.
However, that was exactly the scenario when I walked up to the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel ticket booth.
When I was told that would be $6 to ride (again, alone), I decided to pass. The Ferris Wheel is huge, and the views are probably amazing (Lake Michigan in front of you, the Chicago skyline to your left), but the timing was not right.
I imagine the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier is a far more promising option on a Summer evening, and likely makes for a romantic moment with your significant other if you're visiting Chicago. However, if you're just passing through the area on your own, I'd save the $6 for an Italian Beef at Portillo's. Now that, my friends, is worth it.
