Scoozi - Great food, classy atmosphere
I visited Scoozi in Downtown Chicago as part of the Chicago Dine-Around Progressive Tour, with this popular Italian restaurant serving as the main entree destination in our 3-part experience. Overall, I was really impressed with Scoozi, even though I didn't really get a good look at their menu beyond the wine list. (Which, if you're wondering, is solid.)
I enjoyed a really delicious entree of Chicken Parmesan, breaded and cooked in true Italian fashion. As one of my favorite entrees, Italian or otherwise, you'd have to really screw up Chicken Parmesan for me to be disappointed. Luckily, this wasn't the case, as the chicken was tender and the portions overly generous.
The only criticism I have is that the ziti served on the side could have had more sauce on it. However I imagine this was a consequence of traveling with a special tour, and honestly it wasn't a big deal, nor did it make the noodles dry. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, which I would give a solid 8/10.
Our server was fast and polite, recommending a tasty bottle of red wine that I split with some new friends at my table. ($40 for a 2009 bottle.) Also, she was quick to react when we ran out of chicken at our table. The dining room itself was sprawling and made up of booths and communal tables, so you can have an intimate dinner without feeling cramped or crowded.
Scoozi is definitely a great choice if you're in search of above-average Italian food at pretty reasonable prices in the Near North Side.
