Sheraton Towers - CIA-approved
Probably the coolest thing I learned about the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers is that it is one of just TWO CIA-approved hotels in Chicago - meaning you get some big-time clientele staying at this hotel. When I questioned my tour guide further into what "CIA-approved" meant, she told me it had to do with security and something about window sightlines. There's a good chance she didn't know what she was talking about, but I still thought that it sounded awesome.
The Sheraton is actually one of the most prominent buildings in Chicago, and is located right on the Chicago River so you get some pretty immaculate views of the Chicago skyline if you stay on the south side of this hotel.
The lobby was comfortable, though I wasn't picking up any free Wi-Fi connections. There is a bar off of the lobby that was empty when I walked in on a Thursday afternoon, but it did look like a quiet place to connect with friends or network with strangers, and there were several TVs tuned in to CNBC and ESPN when I walked in.
Overall, this is a pricey hotel but - as they say - you get what you pay for. Here, you'll be paying for the views, the security and the location - all of which are top notch at this Sheraton hotel in Chicago.
