The Living Room - Comfy and cool, even in the daytime
The Living Room at the W City Center is an above-average hotel bar largely because it’s lucky enough to be located in the lobby of one of the coolest hotels in Downtown Chicago, which feels more like a chic lounge than a hotel lobby.
The Living Room also benefits from the fact that there are not that many great nightlife options in the area. The Loop empties out after 5pm on the weekdays, so if you're in search of a well-stirred cocktail in a quiet (but public) area, the Living Room at the W is sure to suffice. It's got a classic hotel bar feel to it; quaint, classy and dark.
Some of the tables where food was being served are located right at the entrance of this lobby, which doesn’t seem appealing to me. I didn't try the food, and given their price (expensive) and the fact that there are some other decent options nearby, I might pass on pub grub unless you're looking for a quick appetizer. Also, I would stick to the bar area, or grab a seat in one of the huge, comfy white chairs located throughout this decadent lobby at the W.
Overall, a nice place to enjoy a drink if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
