Top Festivals 2014 in Chicago - Festival Season is Here!

Winter is FINALLY starting to wear off and warm up, which means festival season is upon us. We couldn’t be more ready. Bring in on, Chicago, from food festivals to parades! There is no better time than festival season in Chicago, so grab the kids and head to one the best upcoming celebrations the Windy City has to offer:

1.) Memorial Day Parade - May 24

Come with the thousands to celebrate Memorial Day in Chicago. Chicago’s Memorial Day parade is one of the biggest in the nation, so come and celebrate those who have fought for our country. Wreath laying ceremony begins at 11am, and the parade starts at noon. The parade starts on State St. and travels south of Van Buren.

2.) 6 Corners BBQ Fest - June 14 - 15

There is no better kind of festival in Chicago than that of the meat variety. Come chow down at 6 Corners BBQ Fest in mid-June. The scrumptious festival includes live entertainment and music, a Kids Corner for the little ones, and, or favorite summertime treat in the Windy City- BBQ deliciousness.

4.) Celebrate Clark Street - July 19 - 20

This is one of our favorite festivals in Chicago, and we know you will love it also! Celebrate Clark Street is a cultural explosion in Rogers Park - on Clark St between Morse and Estes Ave. Two stages boast amazing live World Music, tasty ethnic food is available, and a beautiful craft market offers unique gifts.

5.) Andersonville City Made - September 20 - 21

Lookin’ for some tasty brews and local music? Look no further than the Andersonville City Made Festival. They offer everything Chicago (so, the best things there are). The festival showcases small scale brewers, live music, and Chicago’s incredible artisan community.

6.) Chicago Blues Festival - June 13-15

Did someone say free blues festival? Oh, that’s right, Chicago did! Chicago Blues Festival is the world’s largest free blues festival, so come get your tunes on this summer. The event is 3 days long, 5 stages, and brings more than 500,000 blues fans. Be one of them.

7.) Chicago Air and Water Show - Aug 16-17

There is no festival that gets Chicagoans going like the Chicago Air and Water Show… so come join the fun this summer and watch the incredible display of aviation. The event goes on From 10am-3pm, and this year we will be enjoying performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Navy Parachute teams, Aerostars, and other incredibly talented teams of pilots.

8.) Chicago Jazz Festival - Aug 28 - 31

Going on over Labor Day weekend, Chicago Jazz Fest is in its 36th year. This Chicago festival promotes appreciation for all forms of jazz for all kinds of people. Bring the kids and enjoy free live musical performances.

9.) Irish American Heritage Festival - July 11-13

Come do the Irish jig at and dance to the beat of Irish music this July. The day includes music, family friendly activities, a mashed potato eating contest, a freckle contest, and all things Irish! This is a one of a kind summer festival in Chicago. 

10.) Chicago Hot Summer Nights Festivals - Thurs June - Aug

Chicago Botanic Garden is bringing back Hot Summer Nights - every Thursday starting June 12. These musical performances in the garden range from Hawaiian music to county this summer, so come check out all the talent in Chicago! Bring your own chairs, because the Garden only has a limited supply.
