In the Chicago area you will find both historically significant and newly constructed venues hosting a variety of events. Chicago is full of great event, concert, and sporting venues. One of the most popular is Allstate Arena at which more than 150 events are hosted each year for various sporting, musical, and family fun entertainment. Originally opened in 1889 by Sullivan and Adler, two prominent architects of the time, The Auditorium Theatre set the bar high paving the way as the first multi-purpose building. The Auditorium Theatre building was constructed with a hotel, retail space, and offices all in one single location. The building's overall architectural genius provides fabulous acoustics, internationally revered sight-lines, along with unparalleled technological utility.
The Auditorium Theatre is home to many Broadway shows and is located at Roosevelt University. This particular theatre has also been named a Historic National Landmark and is run by a non-profit organization that remains committed to the theatre's overall preservation and continued restoration as well as offering some of the greatest in cultural, international, and community presentations. The building was among the first to use electric lighting and air conditioning, two modern technologies of the time and is draped in intricate gilding, bas-reliefs, and floor and wall mosaics. Originally opened in 1960 as part of the McCormick complex, Arie Crown Theatre is named for Arie Crown, a Lithuanian immigrant who managed to become one of Chicago's most successful businessmen and a genuine American success story.
