By Kiley Peters, Online Marketing Manager for The Second City

People from around the world flock to The Second City while visiting Chicago to get their laugh on. As snowflakes are falling and bells are ringing, we've decked out our stages with a few special shows and festivities to celebrate the holiday spirit. On behalf of The Second City, we would like to cordially invite you to check them out!

Miracle on Wells Street

“Miracle on Wells Street” is the new holiday show at UP Comedy Club*. With shows Thursday through Sunday starting Thanksgiving and running through New Year’s Eve, this show will delight your holiday spirit and leave you laughing off every ounce of gingerbread and yuletide feast. Expounding all myths about Santa, Rudolph and more, “Miracle on Wells Street” closely examines all things that are naughty and nice this holiday season. Leave your stockings at home...

*UP Comedy Club is a Second City affiliate theatre also located in Piper’s Alley at North and Wells, hosting stand-up, sketch and improv comedy seven nights a week.

The Second City’s Dysfunctional Holiday Show

This show captures all the holiday spirit through original songs, brand-new sketches and some of our classic favorites. There’s nothing like spending the holidays with family, no matter how functional...or dysfunctional. Bring yours to laugh together at this appropriately inappropriate holiday show.

The Second City That Never Sleeps: 24 Hour Charity Event: December 16th & 17th

This is the 13th Annual Charity Event hosted by The Second City. In years past this has been called “Letters to Santa,” but even though the name has slightly changed, the idea is still the same. Second City will be taking the money from ticket sales and making donations to Onward Neighborhood House. This 24 hour entertainment extravaganza begins at 6pm on Monday, December 16th and ends at 6pm on Tuesday, December 17th. A number of musicians will be in attendance along with a series of Second City alums and Saturday Night Live folks. You don’t want to miss this!

Let Them Eat Chaos

This show takes you on a whimsical, colorful and satirical adventure through art, technology, war, rap and everlasting love. Director, Matt Hovde, and Musical Director, Julie B. Nichols, take this production to a whole new level. This all-star cast delivers beyond expectations. It’s just an insatiable statement about the world. A brilliant performance by all. This show will only be running for a few more months until its close, so make sure to see it before time runs out.

A Clown Car Named Desire

This sketch comedy show sheds honesty on the face of laughter as it takes the audience through the journey of self-discovery. From awkward office breast pumping to employees from American Apparel who try too hard to be different to a sneak peak into a never released before play from Tennessee Williams, the audience will experience life from all ages and situations. For an hour and a half, this show will leave your heart happy and your face in pain from laughing.
