Wishbone Restaurant - Delicious Dessert!

I visited Wishbone on the last leg of the Chicago Dine-Around Progressive Tour, so I was basically there for dessert and an after-dinner drink. I have to admit - I was pretty stuffed by the time we hit the Wishbone Restaurant Chicago, but there was no way I was saying 'No' to the chocolate pecan pie we were offered.

The Wishbone is summarized as a Southern Reconstruction restaurant, and by most accounts their more known for their breakfast menu than anything else. However, Southerners know how to do desserts the right way - pies especially - and that was exactly the case at the Wishbone. Their chocolate pecan pie was delicious, the perfect way to end a wonderful 3-course meal at Chicago's best restaurants. It was sweet without being too sugar-y, and chocolate is always a favorite with the after-dinner crowd. (Myself included.)

The staff was very polite and accommodating, and while the restaurant was pretty empty by the time our tour arrived, the community tables they had set up for us definitely inspired myself and my new friends to keep the conversation (and the party) going well after we left Wishbone, happy and full!

Next time I'm in town, I'll make it a point to visit the Wishbone Restaurant Chicago for their famous brunch fare. But for now, the dessert menu certainly sufficed.

Why We Dine: Wishbone in Chicago remains close to our heart for one reason and one reason only, the mouthwatering dishes!

  • Weekend Brunch: Serving brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 3pm, Wishbone Chicago Restaurant serves a delectable brunch menu with local favorites being the Wishbone fruit pancakes, the creamy biscuits and gravy, and the crunchy French toast dipped in corn flakes!  Top it all off with a spicy Bloody Mary!
  • Authentic Southern: Wishbone Restaurant keeps this busy eatery full with loyal diners craving authentic Southern food! Specialties include Kentucky scrambled eggs, the Savannah shrimp omelette and their flavorful Jambalaya omelette.
  • Vegetarians Welcome: A Southern food restaurant with plenty of vegetarian options?  Oh yes!  Our favorite vegetarian dishes are the black bean cakes, the Virginia veggie burger and the Pensacola green salad!

Inside Knowledge: Wishbone Chicago Restaurant caters to the kiddies but  and adults alike!  There is a family section for guests with children, and a quieter adult section for more peaceful accommodations.

We Recommend:

  • Red Eggs: Complete with two eggs any style, these festive eggs are served on corn tortillas bordered by black beans, cheese, chili sauce, scallions, sour cream and salsa!  These beloved breakfast treats are most popular during weekend brunch with a side of juicy ham!
  • NC Style Pulled Pork: This delicious North Carolina-inspired dinner dish is made with on-site hickory smoked pulled pork, creamy coleslaw, and your choice of Wishbone sauce, Lexington barbecue sauce, or pepper vinegar.
