Water Tower Place - Slightly better than your typical mall
Water Tower Place sits in the shadow of the Hancock Observatory, and is home to some of the most famous Chicago shopping staples, including the LEGO Discovery Center and American Girl Place.
There are 7 floors in Water Tower Place, and I’d recommend taking the cool glass elevator to the top and then working your way down.
Find souvenirs at the Cubs clubhouse on the top floor, or grab a quick bite at the food court on the bottom level (which had all of the usual Food Court staples - Starbucks, McDonald's, etc.)
The bathrooms at Water Tower Place are clean, and all of the staff I encountered were nice and helpful. I browsed around some of the sports stores (there's also a Finish Line), and the staff was quick to ask if I needed help finding anything on this slow Tuesday afternoon.
With the exception of a few special stores (most notably the aforementioned American Girl Place), Water Tower Place is your typical mall. However, it's a good, clean mall in a great part of town. After a little shopping, I'd highly recommend taking a trip to the top of the Hancock Observatory, or grabbing a bite to eat at the Cheesecake Factory just around the corner.
Shop here if you're in the mood, but only the presence of American Girl Place makes this a "tourist attraction."
