Wendella Boat Tours - One of the Best Things I've Done in Chicago

This is the original Chicago boat tour! It’s probably one of the best things I’ve done in Chicago, and if you’re a tourist or even a local, you can’t help but enjoy this. I went on the architecture cruise, which was great! I really never thought I was too interested in architecture until I took this tour. I learned so many interesting facts about all the buildings. It gave me a whole new perspective about how great Chicago really is.

When you load the boat, I recommend getting a seat further in the back towards the side of the boat. This will give you the best view. My friend gets sea sick easily and she asked for a Dramamine, but they didn’t have any. It was totally fine though, she didn’t get sick at. So if you get sea sick, don’t worry about it. The boat doesn’t go very fast at all.

Our tour guide was very impressive I have to say. He rattled off so much information in a hilarious style and never even once said ummm or paused or anything. I don’t know if he had a script memorized or what, but it was very well done.

The boat tour lasts about 90 minutes. You get to go through the entire Chicago river that rests in the city. The boat turns around a couple times so you can even see both sides of the river when it splits into two. Really the coolest part is just cruising down the water with these huge buildings towering over you. The tour guide points out almost all the major buildings on the river and tells you an interesting story behind them.

It cost $26, which I didn’t think was too expensive. Best $26 I spent in Chicago, I’ll tell you that. Everyone told me that you HAVE to go on an architecture boat tour while in Chicago. There are a lot of companies that do them, and I’m sure they’re all great. But this is the original and it doesn’t disappoint!
