Situated steps from the Chicago Riverwalk near Navy Pier, the Hyatt Regency is Chicago’s largest hotel. It boasts 2,032 rooms (including 123 suites) and 240,000 square feet of meeting space. Of course, a hotel that size has a lot of bells and whistles. There is a 24-hour fitness center overlooking Navy Pier, a popular steakhouse, and a self-explanatory BIG BAR. Plus, guests enjoy all of the amenities expected at a Hyatt, including free WiFi, business services, and a concierge.

Hyatt Regency Chicago –Best for…
Business travelers

If you’re in town for a conference or event, there’s a good chance it will be hosted at the Hyatt. The Hyatts’ largest event space is 70,000 square feet so it hosts a lot of large conferences and trade shows. That said, there is ample flexible space as well, including cozy meeting space and breakout rooms that can host more intimate gatherings as well. For a gathering of 20 or fewer, it’s easy to book a room online. You can configure the room setup and add food and beverage catering with the click of a mouse.

Along with all of that meeting space, the Hyatt also has a full-service business center available to guests. Prep for your presentation with the hotel’s computers, printers and of course, free WiFi. The hotel has an array of A/V capabilities and event concierge on-hand to make sure things run smoothly. The hotel is also a member of the Hyatt Convention Alliance which can coordinate multi-year bookings in several convention destinations for markets throughout the year. Plus, all rooms come with sleek work stations so you can catch up on emails from your own desk space.

Hyatt Regency Chicago Amenities

With 2,032 rooms and 123 suites, there are a lot of contemporary layouts to choose from. Room options include one king, one queen, or two doubles. Then, choose your view by selecting a city room or high floor. There are also several accessible layouts with an ADA tub. Choose a Regency Club room for exclusive access to the lounge, which serves up breakfast each morning and all-day refreshments. Spacious suites include additional living and dining areas and overlook the Chicago River. Some have spectacular views or fireplaces. All rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, contemporary furnishings, coffeemakers, and concierge services.

Hyatt amenities include the express check-in, multilingual staff, boarding pass print stations, free WiFi, currency exchange, safe deposit boxes, laundry, and valet parking. The 24-hour fitness center overlooks Downtown Chicago with views of the Navy Pier and Chicago River. Club rooms have access to the Regency Club, which serves up a continental breakfast and evening appetisers overlooking Magnificent Mile.

Hyatt Regency also has an array of on-site dining. American Craft Kitchen & Bar serves up farm-to-table fare and Stetsons Modern Steak + Sushi has a nontraditional steakhouse vibe. There is also comfort food and drinks on tap at The Living Room. After a light night, stop by the 24-hour Market Chicago for packaged eats and Starbucks coffee. BIG Bar is of course, big, like it’s impressive views overlooking the Chicago River.

Hyatt Regency Chicago Location

Hyatt Regency Chicago has a prime location alongside the Chicago River. It’s just a two-minute stroll to the Chicago Riverwalk for architectural tours and views, or a ten-minute walk to Millennium Park and the famous Cloud Gate. You can also cross the bridge for Magnificent Mile, just across the river. Navy Pier and all its entertainment is within walking distance as well.

Nearby accommodations include Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, and Swissotel Chicago. Of course, staying in this central and picturesque location isn’t the cheapest in the city, but the Hyatt is a bit more affordable than nearby competitors.

Hyatt Regency Chicago –The verdict

If you like a good one-stop shop, Hyatt Regency has everything you’ll need during your stay under its roof. There are several on-site dining locations and a BIG bar overlooking the river. You can also take advantage of 24-hour fitness and business centers. If you’re in town for a conference, it might just be in one of the hotel’s many expansive event spaces. The four-star accommodations are a touch cheaper than some competitors and there are some pretty swanky views.
