Chicago Things-To-Do

A few years ago, during a trip outside the U.S., I learned something quite amazing. There are people today, in the 21st century, whose only knowledge of Chicago is Al Capone, gangsters and crooks. Yes, it’s true, Chicago was known as a lawless city back in the roaring 20’s, but what a different city Chicago is today.

The great city of Chicago offers something for everyone – from world class shopping, fine art galleries, museums and theatre to unique neighborhoods rich in distinctive heritage, with their city parks and local gathering places. All along the lakefront, from Wrigleyville to Oak Street Beach to the Gold Coast to Soldier Field, Chicago is bustling with things for you to do. And the Chicagoland suburbs offer nearby attractions, such as riverboat casinos, amusement parks, concert venues and more.

What would you like to do while visiting Chicago? Spend a day at Navy Pier and take a lakefront boat tour? Shop the Magnificent Mile? Visit Museum Campus that includes the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium for an experience that is both fun and educational? For more information on the exciting choices Chicago offers, just click on the icons to the left. And don’t forget that Chicago is known for its terrific dining experiences. At some point during your trip, you’ll want to try a Chicago hotdog, beef sandwich or deep-dish pizza!

If you are looking for something for the children while in Chicago, see our Things-to-do for Kids page. It includes activities both in and around the city.
