Chicago Ice Skating
2009 - 2010 Season
Chicago winters are the perfect time to hit the
ten Chicago skating rinks that are open
until at least Feb. 28 throughout the city. All rinks are outdoors with the
exception of McFetridge in California Park. Most locations offer skate
rentals for various fees and concessions with an abundance of hot cocoa.
ICE SKATING AT THE RINK AT WRIGLEY
DECEMBER 19, 2009 - FEBRUARY 28, 2010
1600 W. Addison, Chicago, IL
A year ago, people were able to go ice
skating on a rink built inside Wrigley Field for the NHL Winter Classic.
This winter, skaters can glide on a rink constructed just outside the
ballpark.
The Ricketts family, the City of Chicago, the Chicago Park District and
44th Ward Ald. Tom Tunney are among those who are behind the temporary
ice skating rink, built just west of Wrigley Field on what was a parking
lot along Clark Street.
Named "The Rink at Wrigley," the endeavor is sponsored by the Ricketts
family, Tunney, the Chicago Park District, Westrec Marinas, the City of
Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks, McDonald's, and the Central Lakeview
Merchants Association, among others.
"The 'Rink at Wrigley' is a great way to bring winter fun to our
community and to highlight our commitment to our neighbors and the City
of Chicago," Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said in a statement. "We are
excited to offer a family-friendly activity for our fans and neighbors
at the ballpark during the offseason."
Admission is $10 per adult, $6 per child, and may be purchased on site
for the morning, afternoon or evening sessions. Proceeds help offset the
cost of the rink. Skate rentals will be available for an additional fee.
The Rink at Wrigley will be available to the public, beginning Dec. 15
through February 2010. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday
until 10 p.m. CT and Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m. CT. Levy
Restaurants will offer refreshments. A grand opening celebration is
planned for Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. CT.
