You can even walk downstairs to Bella Bacino’s for a slice of authentic Chicago deep dish.

River Hotel –Best for…
Bargain hunters

River Hotel may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it’s one of the most affordable places to crash with a pretty unbeatable location. There are even additional deals, like a 10-percent discount for a non-refundable rate, so you can save more if your plans are set in stone. You can also save an impressive 15 percent for extended stays if you’ll be in the city for more than seven nights. Plus, there are freebies like purified water and coffee once you’re there, and you won’t need to pay for WiFi.

Looking to save even more on transportation? With a location in the center of it all, you won’t need to spend. Simply walk across the DuSable bridge for Magnificent Mile shopping or a few blocks east to Millennium Park. If you need to reach other parts of the city, the State/Lake El station is one block southwest.

River Hotel Amenities

For the affordable price, River Hotel offers all of the expected amenities. Room layouts include a mobility accessible space and several queen-size rooms with varying amenities. Classic and standard rooms offer the standard queen-size bed and private bathroom, or you can upgrade to a superior room for a refrigerator and microwave. One-room suites have a separate kitchenette and living area. Deluxe double/double rooms have two queen sized beds and two private bathrooms. Staying awhile? Extended stay rooms have well equipped kitchens, dining areas and complimentary maid service.

Whatever room you choose, standard amenities include everything you need for a great night’s rest. There are eye masks and ear plugs as well as an ambient sleep system. The hotel also provides free purified water on every floor and complimentary WiFi throughout. Need a pick-me-up? There’s an in-room Keurig as well as free espresso drinks in the lobby. You can also have gym and yoga equipment delivered to your door or order room service. If you don’t want to have to interact, take advantage of mobile check-in.

If you’re visiting on business, River Hotel has flexible meeting and event space spanning casual living areas to proper board rooms. There’s also a fitness center open from 6am to 9:30pm, stocked with cardio machines and free weights. Most importantly, be sure to grab a slice from the Chicago staple, Bella Bacino’s Italian Bistro. The restaurant serves up classic Chicago deep dish as well as classic Italian dishes.

River Hotel Location

Situated along the river, River Hotel is in one of the most central locations possible. There is tons to explore within walking distance, like the nearby Riverwalk, Chicago Theatre, and Tribune Tower all an under five-minute stroll away. Cloud Gate and Millennium Park, Chicago Cultural Center, Magnificent Mile, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra are all around a half-mile walk, as well, and you can be at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Skydeck Willis Tower and Grant Park after a mile’s stroll. Don’t Forget Big Bus starts its tours across the street. The Chicago Architectural Center is a couple hundred yards away and many architectural river cruises start nearby.

Nearby accommodations include the LondonHouse Chicago, Comfort Suites Michigan Avenue, Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown, and Kimpton Hotel Monaco. River Hotel is by far the most affordable location of them all.

River Hotel –The Verdict

River Hotel is by far the best bargain in town. The three-star accommodations are priced well below nearby competitors with an equally stunning location. Of course, there aren’t fancy perks like a swanky rooftop bar, impressive business center or high-end interior design. But, if you just need a clean place to sleep and the basic amenities, River Hotel gets great reviews. There’s also free WiFi, and you can upgrade for a room with a refrigerator and microwave or full extended-stay suite.
